And the hits just
keep on coming....
As if cabins on
fire and cats with face cancer weren't enough, the smiting of
the ranch continues.
First, some damn
feral kids in the neighborhood pitched a rock through the back
window of Steve & Johanna's VW bug. Then a dead tree from the
park behind our house snapped in half and crashed into the back
yard. At least we can use the half a tree to fire up the sauna -
or roast those punk-ass kids at the stake if we ever catch 'em.
And now for
something completely different:
WE GOT MOOSE POOP!
A recent
unscientific survey of Rancho Spenardo turned up 29 individual
piles of moose poop in the yard. As the snow continues to melt,
new samples will surely be found. While this is the first (and
probably last) year that records will be kept about the ranch's
spring moose poop count, everyone (in the room) agrees that this
is some kind of record.

Aw, hell. Just because
Marley
seems to be doing better doesn't mean she is doing
better. Her biopsy came back and, unfortunately, it's cancer.
The vet gives her anywhere from 2 to 8 months. Sadly, I'll be
making the move to Alabama solo.

It's been a tough
week for another of Rancho Spenardo's feline residents. Sara,
one of Steve & Johanna's cats, needs to have her tail
amputated.

Ado, on the other
hand, is as fat & happy as he ever was.

have nowhere near that much greenery this time of year)
THE RANCH
THE RANCH
THE RANCH IS ON
FIRE!

April 7, 2006
Steve came home
yesterday afternoon to find his cabin full of thick smoke. A
small fire had been smoldering between the desk and wall. Had he
not come home when he did, it would've certainly been
disastrous.

The temperature in
the cabin was hot enough that CD cases across the room started
to melt. We're all just relieved that no one was hurt.
Speaking of
hurting...
Poor
Marley is
recovering from surgery she had yesterday to treat a nasty
infection that had ravaged her jaw down to the bone. She's doing
much better now.
Unfortunately, my
wallet is now much lighter than I'd anticipated. Gotta get that
internet yard sale going so I can replenish my reserves. I've
been spending a lot of time cataloging my record collection, so
some of those should be online in the next week or so.
And yes, even
though it's April, it's still snowing.
